We Don’t Say I Love You Anymore

I’m pleased to share that the team at Vallum Magazine has selected my poem, “We Don’t Say I Love You Anymore,” to be featured in their upcoming Summer 2025 issue. The piece is sweet, sad, and a little drippy, but hey, that’s what love is.

We Don’t Say I Love You Anymore

we don’t say I love you anymore

we press our skin together
rough, slippery, salty
wet while we think about others

our bodies
ache for familiar touch
as our minds gain curiosity

momentum, wondering
about the world, wanting more
wishing to need less

this is not
what love looks like
is it?

we say I love you

with licks and moans
long stares, held
hands and hearts

our energy embodies love
hunger, pain
as we do our best

to understand ourselves
we don’t say I love you anymore
but we think

I love you

all the time
longing to be simpler
and satisfied
