Witchy
Exciting news! My poem, Witchy, has been long-listed for the CBC Poetry Prize 2021. The selected piece is part of a series of poems I wrote to reflect on terms that target women, mirrored by personal memories that shaped me as I came of age. I found myself going back to my upbringing, my first experiences with men, being loved, being used, being curious, being insulted. It was within these memories that derogatory terms surfaced, creating a situational parallel between growth and insecurity, strength and submission. The section of this series that the CBC chose explores the term "Witch."
