Swans By Michelle Brown

I recently had the pleasure of writing a book review for The Malahat Review on a collection of lyric poetry titled Swans by Michelle Brown. In this wonderful piece of work, the author dives into past, present, and future with ease, grabbing readers by the hand and encouraging them to see the mirage of imagery that Brown constructs as she fills each page with thoughtful couplets, erratic structure, and haunting words.

To read the full review, pick up the #224 issue of The Malahat Review.

Lines From “1 in 3,” in Swans by Michelle Brown

“Just barely above water,
the three of us dangle our toes in.

We left the bar as missing people,
heard our names being called,

then shouted, then forgotten.”
