Snaggletooth

Oh, Snaggletooth, where do I begin? Let’s just say that, to my surprise and delight, Snaggletooth has been picked up by our friends at Petal Projections, where they have added my ugly beautiful poem to their Fall 2024 print issue of this lovely periodical. Pick up a copy — there’s always guaranteed to be lots of great, wonderful, curious, and delicious art to be discovered.

Snaggletooth

Double-joined middle toes
that’s my party trick

revolting as the rest
of my crooked body, bent

long, leggy, lean
lascivious

I grow
an ecosystem of ugly

sharp-spoken
bones

sheathed by speckled
splatter-painted skin

marshmallow fair, soft
plump and pure

dotted
by whisker-sprouting moles

that protrude
impolitely, typical

for a green-eyed lolly
gagging word-dribbler

whose lips trickle wit
down a rounded chin mound

thoughts dripping
past a snaggletoothed

grin, too big
for my tiny face.
